ASSESSMENT VALIDATION

Step 1: Initial consultation

✅ We start with a phone or email discussion to understand your RTO’s specific needs.
✅ We discuss the units of competency you need to have reviewed and any concerns you may have.
✅ We outline our process and what we require from you to complete a thorough review.

Step 2: What we need from you

To conduct a detailed and effective review, we require the following documents:
📌 Assessment materials – including theory and practical assessment tools.
📌 Learner guides – to ensure students are provided with the required knowledge.
📌 Current mapping document – to verify alignment with unit requirements.
📌 Any additional supporting documents – such as assessor guides, observation checklists, or workplace requirements.

Step 3: Our assessment validation process

Once we receive your materials, we undertake a detailed compliance review, which includes:

1. Assessment review

  • Checking that all unit of competency requirements are fully covered.
  • Ensuring assessment tasks align with performance evidence and knowledge evidence.
  • Reviewing methods of assessment for validity and reliability (e.g. written, practical, third-party reports).
  • Evaluating authentication methods to ensure students are providing genuine, original work.
  • Reviewing student and assessor instructions for clarity and compliance.
  • Examining practical assessment tasks to ensure they are achievable, realistic, and align with industry expectations.

2. Learner material review

  • Ensuring that learner guides and resources contain all necessary knowledge for students to complete assessments.
  • Identifying any gaps where students may not have access to required learning content.
  • Ensuring language and literacy levels are appropriate for the target learner group.

3. Mapping validation

  • Checking that all elements, performance criteria, and assessment requirements are correctly mapped.
  • Ensuring knowledge evidence, performance evidence, and foundation skills are addressed in assessment tasks.
  • Identifying any gaps, over-assessment, or under-assessment.

Step 4: Detailed validation report

Once our review is complete, we provide a comprehensive report outlining:
All findings related to assessment compliance, learner materials, and mapping.
Clear recommendations to rectify any non-compliant areas.
Examples and guidance on how to fix identified issues.

This report gives you a practical, step-by-step action plan to improve compliance and enhance your training and assessment materials.
